`The Castle` is a stones throw from a great variety of scenic wonders, entertainment and adventure. Activities and attractions nearby include: Kruger National Park and Gods Window.
` The Castle` is situated on the outskirts of Graskop towards God``s Window in Mpumalanga. TheCastle, set in the style of a 17th century Italian castle, opened to the public at the end of 2007 and is a fairytale experience for all visitors and guests alike, be it for lunch, tea, a castle tour or a stay over in the luxurious rooms. The Castle has been a dream turned into reality in just three years. Having been conceptualized in the form of a sculpture by one of the owners early in 2005, the castle was constructed using hand picked relics and works of art to create a magnificent masterpiece set in one of the most beautiful areas of the country. An example of this personal touch includes the two spectacular feature Art Deco windows sourced from the old Afrox building in downtown Johannesburg.
Currently there are five suites which are all individually decorated in styles of end of the 19th century composers such as Strauss in frivolous pink, Gounod in striking Art Deco and Mozart in red velvet and gilded wallpaper. Other unique aspects of the rooms include breath taking views as well a magnificent bath set in an open plan style, ideal for couples wanting a romantic and enchanted experience. The Mozart is the most spacious and situated away from the four luxury suites. It is purely grand and ideal for the honeymoon couple and the celebration of a dreamy occasion. The large round bathroom (in the middle tower) boasts a couple-sized bath with a fine view over the wetland. Other significantly royal features are a gigantic, but cosy antique bed, various other pieces of glorious antique furniture, gilt wallpaper, ornate frames and red velvet curtains.`The Castle` is set in beautifully manicured gardens and the soon to be completed secret garden will add significantly to this unique experience. There is also a 6th teddy bear bedroom situated at the top of the staircase to heaven providing a wonderful experience for children and families. Other features of the Castle include a Chapel which can be used for weddings and small intimate gatherings and functions, as well as an art gallery showcasing a variety of bronzed sculptures. Least but not last the Der Rosenkavalier diningroom, bringing fine dining cuisine to perfectly complete this magical experience.
The Castle is perched on the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment, centrally situated in Mpumalanga. It is close to beautiful scenic wonders such as God`s Window, Bourke`s Luck Potholes, the world renowned Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondawels, the Pinnacle as well as spectacular waterfalls such as the Forest, Lisbon, Mac-Mac,  Berlin and Lone Creek. The Kruger National Park is less than an hour`s drive away.
`The Castle` in itself boasts a work or art, sculpted first as a model by an wellnown local artist who gained inspiration from the  St. Colamba Presbyterian Church in Parkview, Johannesburg and  Castle Nuovo in Napels, Italy. A great variety of antique furniture, ornaments and art within the castle have been collected throughout Southern  Africa and other continents, creating a grand masterpiece. Examples include sandstone corner blocks and old farmhouse yellow wood beams from the Free State, entrance doors from Belgium, spectacular  Art Deco windows from the old Afrox building in downtown Johannesburg and dazzling Art Deco light fittings.
The Castle perfectly compliments its surroundings and reflects an awareness and love of nature, with beautiful views across the Mantitshi wetland and river. This home mirrors this peacefulness as the rooms do not have televisions but rather echo Nature`s calls. Found within the garden is  a little Eden with a colony of dwarf chameleons, half a dozen of frog species and a variety of birds. An abundance of wild flowers can be found within a radius of 200 meters from the castle … an excellent opportunity for macro photography enthusiasts.
